// MISSED CALL TEXT BACK

Missed call text back, set up for contractors

Missed call text back is an automation that sends an instant text from your business number to anyone whose call you did not answer, so the lead waits for your callback instead of calling the next business on Google. We run GoHighLevel in-house and set it up on the number and tools you already use, carrier registration included.

// ON THE JOB

What it does while you're on the job

You're up a ladder and the phone rings out. Without text-back, that caller hits voicemail, hangs up, and dials the next contractor. With it, this happens in the first ten seconds instead:

// EXAMPLE MESSAGE Sent automatically from your number

Sorry we missed you, out on a job at the moment. What do you need done and we'll call you straight back.

Short, honest, and written with you so it sounds like your business. Most callers reply with the job details, so you call back already knowing what they need. Full picture in our guide: why contractors lose jobs to missed calls.

// UNDER THE HOOD

How missed call text back works in GoHighLevel

GoHighLevel has missed call text back built in, under Settings, Phone System, Voice. Switching it on takes minutes. Making it reliable for a trade business is the part people get stuck on.

01 · Trigger The call goes unanswered

GoHighLevel counts a call as missed once it rings past your incoming call timeout. HighLevel suggests 10 to 20 seconds. Answered calls never trigger a text.

02 · Automatic The text goes out

Your message sends from an SMS-capable number in the account, with a different version after hours if you want one.

03 · Workflow Repeat calls are filtered

Out of the box every missed call sends a text, even three calls in a row. We run it as a workflow with a wait step so the caller gets one message.

04 · Then The reply lands in the pipeline

The conversation and contact sit in GoHighLevel, ready for your callback and the follow-up that chases the quote.

Texts need a registered number. HighLevel requires A2P 10DLC registration for local numbers, or toll-free verification for toll-free numbers, before the text-back sends. Registration asks for your legal business name, EIN and sample messages, and it can take days, so we start it first.

Texts are metered, and opt-outs are respected. Each text counts toward your GoHighLevel messaging usage, and contacts who have opted out do not get one. Source: HighLevel’s missed call text back guide.

Want the call answered rather than texted? An AI phone agent can run on the same account: see the answering service for plumbers, HVAC answering service and answering service for contractors. The full account build is on GoHighLevel setup.

Your call volume, your close rate, your job value. The result updates as you type, and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

Estimated lost revenue per year

$36,400 from calls that went unanswered

That is about 104 jobs a year walking to someone else.

This is an estimate based only on the numbers you entered above, not a quote or a guarantee. Adjust the inputs to match your own week.

// YOUR SETUP

Works with the tools you already use

No new system to learn and nothing to migrate. The text-back is built around whatever already runs your jobs.

Jobber our most common build
Housecall Pro job management
ServiceTitan field service
Workiz field service
A spreadsheet and a calendar plenty of crews run this way
A plain phone line no job software needed

// WHY WEB BLEND

Why contractors pick us over the resellers

Plenty of outfits resell the same white-label dashboard with a monthly contract attached. We build it differently. Text-back catches the calls you miss; its sibling, quote follow up automation for contractors, chases the quotes you send.

What is missed call text back?

When a call to your business rings out, the caller instantly gets a short SMS from your number: something like "Sorry we missed you, out on a job. What do you need done and we will call you straight back." It keeps the lead warm until you can actually call them.

Does it really stop leads going to competitors?

It stops the specific leak where a caller hits voicemail and dials the next contractor on Google. The text gives them a reason to wait for your callback. It does not book the job for you; you still make the call, just to someone who waited.

Will it annoy my customers?

Not if the message is short and human. One honest text reads as good service. We write the copy with you, keep it to a single message, and use a different version after hours so it never feels like a robot.

Do I need to change my phone number or my job software?

No. It runs on your existing business number, and it works alongside whatever you already use to run jobs: Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Workiz, or nothing but a phone.

How does missed call text back work in GoHighLevel?

GoHighLevel treats a call as missed when it goes unanswered past your incoming call timeout, and then sends your text from an SMS-capable number in the account. The number needs A2P 10DLC registration (or toll-free verification for a toll-free number) before texts send reliably. By default every missed call triggers a text, even repeat calls from the same person, so we build it as a workflow with a wait step to stop double texts.

What does it cost?

It is scoped as a lead-response automation: we look at how your calls flow now, then give you one fixed number before any work starts. Automation setups start from $1,284. No hourly billing, no monthly lock-in contract. Carrier registration can add a few days before the first text goes out, so we start that early.
