The ServiceM8 Job Diary still has no tabs. The Job Diary does have a filter icon that narrows the stream to one record type, such as files, images, job notes or correspondence.
- The Job Diary filter icon sits in the top-right corner of the Diary and works in the ServiceM8 app and the Online Dashboard.
- ServiceM8 15 adds note threads with @ mentions, a note field that grows as you type, and Hide Completed Items for checklists.
- Hiding completed checklist items deletes nothing, and each staff member has separate hide settings.
- Diary notes, files and photos can only be deleted in the Online Dashboard, not in the ServiceM8 app. Email and SMS entries can't be deleted.
- ServiceM8 Phone calls without a Call Summary stay hidden until you click Show hidden items at the bottom of the Diary.
- Web Blend's suggestions, not ServiceM8 features: start notes with a label such as "PERMIT:" and name files before attaching them.
Keep asking about it in
Quick answer: The ServiceM8 Job Diary still has no tabs. The Job Diary does have a filter icon that narrows the stream to one record type, such as files, images, job notes or correspondence. ServiceM8 15 adds note threads, a growing note field and a way to hide finished checklist items. Deleting junk only works in the Online Dashboard.
Does the ServiceM8 Job Diary have tabs or folders?
No. ServiceM8’s help center documents no tabs and no folders in the Job Diary. Every photo, note, email, text and plan lands in one stream.
The closest documented thing is the filter. The Enhanced Job Card, released in September 2024, also lets you browse the Diary, Photos or Attachments side by side with the job details in the Online Dashboard.
How do I filter a ServiceM8 Job Diary to one type of record?
- Open the job and open the Diary.
- Tap or click the filter icon in the top-right corner of the Diary.
- Pick the record type. ServiceM8 lists files, images, job notes and correspondence as examples.
- To clear the filter, use the icon again. In the app, reset to All.
The filter works in the app and in the Online Dashboard. ServiceM8’s help page does not say whether you can search for a word inside one Diary.
What did ServiceM8 15 change in the Job Diary?
ServiceM8 15 launched on September 18, 2026. If you don’t see these, read how to turn on ServiceM8 15 features.

|---|---|---|
| Note Threads & Reactions | Replies sit under the original note. Type @ to mention a staff member. Emoji reactions send no notification. | Online Dashboard and app |
| Expanding Job Notes | The note field grows as you type. | ServiceM8’s update page does not say which screens |
| Hide Completed Checklists | The three-dot menu beside a checklist section has Hide Completed Items. | Job card, Online Dashboard |
| Hide Completed Tasks | A column menu in Dispatch Board > Tasks hides finished tasks. | Online Dashboard |
| New iPad Experience | The Job card shows on the left and the Diary on the right. | iPad, when the window is wide enough |
Hiding changes what you see. Hiding deletes nothing. Each staff member has separate hide settings.
How do I delete photos and notes from a ServiceM8 Job Diary?
You can’t delete Diary content in the ServiceM8 app. Use the Online Dashboard.
- Go to the Dispatch Board and open the job.
- For a note or file, hover over the entry, click the down arrow, click Remove, then Yes.
- For a photo or video, click the photo, click Actions, click Delete, then Yes.
Email and SMS entries can’t be deleted this way. ServiceM8 treats them as job communication records.
Why do some phone calls not show in the ServiceM8 Job Diary?
Calls made with ServiceM8 Phone only show in the Diary if someone typed a Call Summary. To see the rest, scroll to the bottom of the Diary in the Online Dashboard and click Show hidden items. See why call recordings attach to the wrong job.
What habits keep a long project Diary readable?
These are our suggestions. None of them are ServiceM8 features.
- Start every note with a label. Example: “PLAN:”, “PERMIT:”, “CHANGE ORDER:”.
- Reply in the thread.
- Clean up photos weekly. On a panel upgrade that runs three weeks, someone in the office deletes blurry and duplicate photos online every Friday.
- Name files before you attach them. “Panel-permit-approved.pdf” beats “scan0042.pdf”.
